Seeds

Effective formulation and implementation of 5-year seed rolling plan (category wise, variety wise, crop wise, region wise)

Popularization and distribution of seeds of improved varieties through minikit programme

Establishment of seed bank to ensure availability of seeds at the time of natural calamities
Involving farmers' organization, NGOs and other private organizations with incentive package for seed production
Provision for revolving fund for "Buy Back" and "Sell Back" for seeds of newly released varieties produced under FLDs/SVS.
Seed Village Scheme with provision of contractual obligation
Training of agricultural graduates, progressive farmers and seed societies for quality seed production

Integrated Pest Management

Surveillance of Helicoverpa armigera and pod fly through pheromone traps
Strengthening/establishment of HaNPV production units
Strengthening/establishment of Trichoderma production units
Training of farmers, scientists, extension workers and subject matter specialists about HaNPV and Trichoderma production and their use
Demonstrations on IPM modules for control of Helicoverpa armigera and pod fly

Integrated Nutrient Management

Promoting production of SSP and its use through appropriate incentive package
Creating awareness among farmers about importance of sulphur and zinc through demonstration
Providing incentive to farmers for use of zinc and sulphur
Blending common fertilizers with zinc for areas having widespread zinc deficiency
Tie up arrangement for alternate sources of sulphur through SSP in the states facing difficulties in supplying gypsum
Enhancing production of quality biofertilizers
Tie up arrangement with the existing 36 qualified production centres producing biofertilizers
Front line demonstrations on use of biofertilizers

Technology Transfer

Massive front line demonstrations with contractual assistance on improved varieties and production technology by providing funds directly to the implementing units.

In addition to Block Demonstrations organized by SDA, KVKs would be provided with 20% block demonstrations directly linking them with the Directorate of Pulses Development

Massive programme on mass media, printed literature in vernacular languages and Kisan Gosthies

Under a special crop diversification component interface of farmers + extension workers + scientists would be organized at KVKs

Special training programme for (i) farmers, (ii) seed growers, (iii) extension workers (iv) development officers of the concerned central nodal Development Directorate (DPD)
Using ATMA for promoting Mission's activities in the states of Maharashtra, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, A.P., Jharkhand and Orissa and extending the same to other pulse growing states

Post Harvest Management

Distribution of IIPR Dal Mills and metal storage bins with package incentive
Establishing model pulse processing centres at district levels in major pulse producing states (M.P., Maharashtra, U.P. and Rajasthan)
Providing incentives to farmers self help groups and cooperative for use of IIPR Dal Mill and storage bin for entrepreneurship
Involving KVK's and NGO's to impart training about processing and value addition to entrepreneurs.

Area Expansion

Massive minikit programme on improved varieties of pulses in targeted districts
Ensuring adequate quantity of quality seeds in non-traditional areas
Decentralization of powers to Panchayat levels for containing population of Blue Bulls
Tie up arrangements with NABARD , GIC, SDAs and Revenue Department for crop insurance
Creation of a coordination committee for release of irrigation water as per need of the mission crop
Procurement of 3 million tonnes pulses by NAFED
Promoting export of parched gulabi and kabuli chickpea through tie-up arrangement with Special Export Zone (SEZ)
