Increasing production from existing (IXth Plan) 131.4 Lakh tonnes to 162.00 Lakh tonnes and productivity from 594 kg / ha to 702 kg /Pha.
Focus attention on six crops – Chickpea, Pigeonpea, Mungbean, Urdbean, Lentil and Peas
Productivity enhancement from 594 kg/ha to 735 kg/ha
  • Chickpea 790 to 936 kg/ha
  • Pigeonpea 693 to 897 kg/ha
  • Mungbean 367 to 422 kg/ha
  • Urdbean 439 to 502 kg/ha
  • Lentil 674 to 796 kg/ha
  • Peas 892 to 1015 kg/ha
Crop diversification through diverting additional area of 0.92 million hectares under focussed crops
  • Chickpea 4 lakh hectares
  • Pigeonpea 1.5 lakh hectares
  • Urdbean 1.1 lakh hectares
  • Mungbean 1.47 lakh hectares
  • Lentil 0.42 lakh hectares
  • Peas 0.50 lakh hectares
Increasing per capita availability of pulses from 32g to 40g at affordable price
Effective policy, efficient marketing, technological and developmental interventions to ensure competitive edge of pulses vis-a-vis competing crops and commodities
To improve net value realization from by-products (pulse milling) of pulses by development of diversified and value added products for domestic consumption and exports (like biscuits etc.)
Selective mechanization to improve efficiency and over come drudgery in pulses production
